The brewery’s team Fragile but Agile smashed it! Not only did they complete the 13.2 mile Brentwood Half Marathon on Sunday in impressively fast times but they smashed their own fund-raising target of £1,000 as well.
The eight-strong team, Holly, Ethan, Hal and Ralph Kannor along with friends, has so far raised more than £1,400 for charity, The Fragile X Society. They ran the race in honour of Holly and Ethan’s son Oakley who has been diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome. It’s the most common inherited cause of learning disability.
Holly Kannor said: “Thanks to so many generous donations we have already beaten our original fund raising target. We’ve decided to push ourselves even harder and set a new target of £2,000. We know the Fragile X Society will be able to do so much great work with this money.
“Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts for all the support we’ve been given. Oakley is an amazing little boy and I cannot put into words how it makes me feel to know he has obviously touched so many people with is gorgeous smiles and infectious laughter.”
First across the finish line in Team Fragile but Agile was Hal Kannor, in one hour and forty one minutes. Not so long afterwards (just eleven minutes later) Ralph and Ethan Kannor completed their half marathon in one hour and fifty two minutes, crossing the finish line arm in arm together.
Hal joked: “Of course, I was much faster than my brothers! Almost a minute a mile faster. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and buzz of taking part in the half marathon.
“Seriously though, thank you to everyone who has sponsored us.
“The training schedule remains busy because next month I’m doing the full Brighton Marathon with my brothers to hopefully raise more money for The Fragile X Society.”
Legs and feet may be weary but the team is delighted to have completed the run and to have raised such a fantastic sum for the charity which means so much to them. Now nursing sore hips and knees Holly added: “I’m so proud of team Fragile but Agile. Seeing Oakley’s cheeky face at mile 10 and the support of the crowd cheering us on throughout, supplying us with vital Jelly Babies, helped me push myself through the pain to keep going. My sister Jennie and Eth helped me across the finish line.”
Ethan, Hal and Ralph Kannor along with friends Tom Whitehead and David Edwards are running The Brighton Marathon on 9th April. For more details visit Team Fragile But Agile’s Just Giving page:
