Our friends at RHS Hyde Hall Gardens have once again had a bumper harvest of hops, so for the second year running Brentwood Brewery is pleased to be brewing RawHyde, a green-hopped beer. RawHyde will be available at Woodfest on 5th & 6th November, the RHS Hyde Hall event that celebrates the natural beauty of wood and Autumn.
RHS Hyde Hall Horticulturist Matthew Oliver said: “Although the hop plants are just three years old they have established well and this year I harvested seven kilos, which is the most I’ve ever had from them.
“The hot, dry weather a few weeks ago has definitely helped and when we picked them the aroma was intoxicating!
“I’m really pleased that Brentwood Brewing Company will once again be making more RawHyde for the autumn season. It was a big hit with visitors to the garden and was in fact the best-selling beer in the Hyde Hall Shop.”
At Woodfest there will be displays of traditional country skills and crafts, Essex seasonal produce to browse and buy as well as local crafts like wooden garden products, art pieces made from scavenged wood and framed photographic prints of trees.
Guided tours of the woodland to explore flora and fauna, hands-on activities such as paper making and archery are also on offer.
Displays include: Willow weaving, peg making, woodcarving, heavy horse log pulling, chainsawing, pole lathing spoon carving, whistle making and wood related art & gifts.
Entrance is free for RHS members and a family guest. Usual admission prices apply for non-members. See website: www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/hyde-hall or click on this link for prices: normal garden admission
