We feel Brentwood Best is a rather good, traditional ale. But according to CAMRA, it is the best Best Bitter in the region this year.
A delegation from South West Essex CAMRA visited the brewery recently and their brewery liaison officer, Beryl Ellis, presented us with the Champion Best Bitter of East Anglia 2017 award for Brentwood Best 4.2% ABV.
Brewery Manager Dean Beckwith received the award on behalf of the brewery team.
He said: “It’s a great honour and the brewery is delighted and proud, especially as this award was voted for by CAMRA members.”
During their visit SW Essex CAMRA members enjoyed some Brentwood Beer including draught Brentwood Best. Joining them was their mascot of the last 11 years, Hophead.
As Hophead’s hobby is collecting badges, we were pleased to add to his growing collection with a cheeky ‘Taste My Heavenly Body’ one from Brentwood Brewery.
Brentwood Best is made with a good dose of Challenger and EKG hops giving a well-rounded flavour and aroma. Light copper in colour, this beer is a firm favourite with our regulars and is available in Polypins all year. It can also usually be found on draught in the brewery’s Tap Room, open Tuesday – Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm and Saturdays 10.30am to 3.30pm. (Find us next to Calcott Hall Farm Shop).
The SW Essex CAMRA group (Chairman Anne, Secretary Alan, Webmaster Steve, Barbara and Hophead minder John, joined Beryl and her husband Trevor for the presentation at our Tap Room and Brewery Shop.
